Baker M. Thomas, age 62, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 1998 in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon.
He was a lifelong resident of Washington County and a foreman with W&L Construction Co., Chilhowie.
He was a member of Old Time Holiness Tabernacle, Glade Spring.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Thomas; two daughters, Alberta Hess and Brenda Thomas, both of Glade Spring; two sons, Billy Thomas, Abingdon, and Bobby Thomas, Glade Spring; two sisters, Esther Thomas and Lois Barlow, both of Glade Spring; three brothers, Kermit Thomas and Earl Thomas, both of Glade Spring, and Miri Thomas, Speedwell; three grandchildren; one step-grandson; one step-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted today, Feb. 21, in Old Time Holiness Tabernacle, Glade Spring, with the Rev. Mark Compton officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Johnson Funeral Home, Damascus is in charge of arrangements.

Mirl Thomas, age 61, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000 at his home in Speedwell.
Mr. Thomas was born in Washington County, the son of the late James Mack and Lola Jane Brown Thomas and was preceded in death by one son, one sister and two brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Moore Thomas, of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Mike Linkous of Speedwell; one son and daughter-in-law, Franklin and Denise Thomas of Atkins; four grandchildren, Brittany Cregger, Devon Linkous, Jay Linkous and Blake Thomas; his mother-in-law, Mary Moore of Marion; two sisters, Lois Barlow and Ester Thomas, both of Glade Spring; two brothers, Kermit Thomas and Earl Thomas, both of Glade Spring; special friends, Lisa Quillen, Tina Shinault and Judy Monahan.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 21, at 1 p.m. at Barnett's Funeral Chapel in Wytheville with the Rev. Ray Haskett officiating. Interment followed in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat.

Mr. Thomas was born in Tazewell, a son of the late Mart and Mary Thomas. He had lived in Washington County most of his life and was a farmer.
Surviving are his wife, Virgie M. Thomas; five daughters, Patsy Green of Chilhowie, Rachel Thomas, April Sue Thomas and Pauline Thomas, all of the home, and Angel Thomas of Glade Spring; one son, Kermit Thomas Jr., Glade Spring; five sisters, Ann Harr and Thelma Harris, both of Bristol, Tenn., June Hayden of Saltville, Nancy Toon of Damascus, and Betty Joe Compton of Crockett; four brothers, Robert Thomas of Rural Retreat, Roger Thomas and Sonny Thomas, both of Wytheville, and Elmer Thomas of Blountville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Baumgardner officiating. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Glade Spring.
