He married Hattie Elizabeth DeBusk. Hattie was born September 26, 1917. Hattie was the daughter of Andrew DeBusk and Susan Isabelle "Ibby" Widener. Hattie died 1994 at 76 years of age.

Emmett Lewis Trent Jr. and Hattie Elizabeth DeBusk had the following children:

1987 i. Dorothy⁸ Trent. She married twice. She married Isaac Buster Rouse. Isaac is the son of Raymond Napolean Rouse and Laura Leona Bare. She married Tony Berry.

+ 1989 iii. Thelma Trent.

1990 iv. Johnny Trent. He married Linda.

+ 1991 v. Earnest Junior "Buddy" Trent (still alive).
