Dean A. Shatley, age 56, of Glade Spring, died Thursday, June 4, 1998.
He was a lifelong resident of Washington County and was of the Baptist faith. He was a farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Shatley; four sons, Billy Shatley, Chilhowie, Richard Shatley, Granite Falls, N.C., Charlie Mutter, Glade Spring, and Eddie Shatley, Taylors Valley; eight brothers, Andy Thomas, Glade Spring, Everett Shatley, Troy Shatley and Mott Shatley, all of Nottingham, Penn., Richard "Dick" Shatley, West Grove, Penn., Kermit Shatley, Smethport, Penn., Guy Shatley, Wilkesboro, Penn., and Paul Shatley, Morgantown, N.C.; five sisters, Freda Thomas, Glade Spring, Brenda Taylor, Abingdon, Mary Sinclair, High Point, N.C., Emma Goode, Nottingham, Penn., and Jean Caraballo, Oxford, Penn.; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 7, in Farris Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Paul Jones and the Rev. Mahlon Wyatt officiating. Burial was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Glade Spring.
The Farris Funeral Service in Abingdon was in charge of arrangements.

Obituary
Teresa Thomas (Terri) Hutson, age 43, died Wednesday, June 17, 1998 at her home in Hull, Ga. She was a native of Bristol, Tenn., and had lived in numerous states including Hawaii, where she became a certified scuba diving instructor.
The majority of the past 15 years were spent working with her long-time companion, Bob Fulford, as a part-time secretary and full-time goodwill ambassador in the Motion Picture Film Industry. During that time, she was a member of the Women of the Motion Picture Industry (W.O.M.P.I.).
She is survived by one daughter, Kimberly J. Hutson, Georgia; one son, Mark R. Hutson of Kentucky; her mother, June Thomas of Chilhowie; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Bonita and Jim Wampler, Bluff City, Tenn., Clarice and Robert Nichols of Chicago, Ill., Reba and Ernest Catsulis of Chilhowie, and Donna and Jimmy Widner of Glade Spring; three brothers, Kyle Thomas of Damascus, Vernon Thomas of Meadowview, and Wade Thomas of Glade Spring; two sisters-in-law, Linda Thomas and Opal Thomas; two grandchildren, Christopher and Nicole; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was conducted Monday, June 22, at 10 a.m. in the Mt. Olivet Church in Glade Spring with the Rev. R.J. Cullop officiating. The committal service and inurnment followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Johnson Funeral Home in Damascus was in charge of arrangements.
