Minnie Ruth Poe Johnson, age 90, of Damascus, died Sunday, Oct. 5, 1997 in Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon. She was a native of Damascus and a member of First Baptist Church, Damascus. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wells Poe and Sarah Jane Hand Poe; and two sons, Paul B. Johnson and Jim Johnson. Survivors include two sons, Jack Johnson and Howard Johnson, both of Damascus; one daughter, Peggy Lewis, Damascus; one sister, Margie Harris, Damascus; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7, in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Lasley officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. today, Oct. 8, in Sunset Memorial Park, Damascus. For those who wish, memorials may be made to Damascus Life Saving Crew.
Johnson Funeral Home in Damascus is in charge of arrangements.
