Clyde Hillard, age 80, of Damascus, died Wednesday, April 7, 1999 in Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie.
He was a native of Sullivan County, Tenn., and had lived in Washington County most of his life.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of the Damascus VFW Post No. 9830, and a member of the Roberts Chapel Church where he served as a deacon for 50 years.
Mr. Hillard retired in 1982 from the Washington County Service Authority.
Survivors include his wife, Vesper Thomas Hillard; two sons, Douglas Keith Hillard of Charleston, S.C., and Dwight A. Hillard of Troutville; three grandsons, David A. Clark, Dwight J. Hillard and Cameron S. Hillard; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, April 9, at 2 p.m. in the Roberts Chapel Church in Abingdon with the Rev. John Surber officiating. Burial was in the Greenwood Cemetery in Abingdon.
Johnson Funeral Home in Damascus was in charge of arrangements.
