Buster Brown Barlow, 64, died Wednesday, March 2, 2005, in the Smyth County Community Hospital. He was born in Washington County to the late Lord Emory and Nettie Mae Thomas Barlow and was preceded in death by his sister, Carrie Owens and a brother, John Barlow. He had worked as a dairy farmer and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Nancy Barlow; his children, Sarah and Lacy Rogers and Roy and Carla Barlow, all of Damascus and Lora and Walter Barron, Jr. of Marion; three brothers, Eliuh Barlow and Eugene Barlow, both of Glade Spring and Ernest Barlow of Norfolk; four sisters, Minnie Faye Widner of Chilhowie, Dorothy Widner, Margie Thomas and Edna Thomas, all of Glade Spring; nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. At his request, there will be no public funeral services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Mr. Barlow to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2680, Canton, Ohio, 44720. Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at www.bradleysfh.com. Alden H. Barlow, age 87, of Westminister, Md., formerly of Pylesville, Md., died at Carroll County General Hospital in Maryland on Sunday, Dec. 6, 1998. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jossie A. (Blackburn) Barlow on Aug. 30, 1996.
Mr. Barlow was born Nov. 6, 1911 in Chilhowie, the son of the late David and Lula (McCloud) Barlow. He retired in 1976 after 16 years with the Harford County Dept. of Public Works. He also worked at the former Robinson Brothers Feed Mill in Delta, Penn., for many years. He was a member of North Harford Baptist Church.
He is survived by two sons, Darius D. Barlow of Jarrettsville, Md., and John D. Barlow, Sherman, Texas; one daughter, Barbara P. Matulevich of Westminister, Md.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Edith Lett, Havre de Grace, Md.; four brothers, Wayne Barlow of Downington, Penn., Sherman Barlow of Statesville, N.C., Blaine Barlow of Texas, and James Barlow of Virginia.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 11 a.m. at North Harford Baptist Church with his pastor, the Rev. John W. Manry officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to North Harford Baptist Church, 4008 Old Federal Hill Road, Jarrettsville, Md. 21084.
