Obituary
William Raymond Doss, age 75, of Abingdon, died Thursday, Sept. 16, 1999 in Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
Mr. Doss was a lifelong resident of the Widener's Valley community of Washington County, a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church in Widener's Valley and the widower of Vella Carrie Gentry Doss. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Christopher Ray Doss.
Surviving are three sons, L.J. Doss and Randy Doss, both of Abingdon, and Larry Doss of Mountain City, Tenn.; two daughters, Angie Owens of Abingdon and Kathy Keith of Meadowview; three brothers, Roy Doss of Damascus, Denver Doss and Kenneth Doss, both of Glade Spring; four sisters, Ruby Gentry, Laurel Bloomery, Tenn., Bertie Mae Gentry, Bristol, Lucille Thomas, Glade Spring, and Beulah Murphy, Damascus; 16 grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Sept. 19, at 3 p.m. in Pleasant View Baptist Church with the Rev. Jerry Eggers, the Rev. Wayne Parsons and the Rev. Mahlon Wyatt officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park in Damascus.
Farris Funeral Service in Abingdon was in charge of arrangements.

Minnie Dolinger Blevins, 85, died Friday, March 11, 2005, in Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion.
She was the widow of Harley Elmer Blevins and was also preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Callie Powers Dolinger and four brothers, Basil, Howard, Robert and Wade Dolinger.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, David L. and Millie Blevins of Chilhowie; one daughter and son-in-law, Judy B. and Bob Hicks of Seven Mile Ford; three brothers, William Dolinger of South Carolina, Ike Dolinger of Chilhowie and Jerry Dolinger of Damascus; three sisters, Hazel DeBord of Bluefield, W.Va., Marcella McGrady and Ann Collins, both of Marion; three granddaughters, Jennifer B. Robinson, Melanie Hicks and Julie Hicks; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon, March 13, 2005, in Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Chilhowie. The Rev. David T. St.Clair officiated the ceremony. Graveside services were conducted Monday morning, March 14, 2005, at the Grosses Creek Baptist Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 2728 Colonial Ave., Suite 2, Roanoke, Va. 24015.
The family received friends Sunday afternoon, March 13, 2005, at Williams Funeral Home, just prior to the funeral service.
