2276. Bernice A Widener

Bernice Widener Brown, 87, of Damascus, died Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion.
She was a life-long resident of Washington County, the daughter of the late Monroe F. and Edith Cook Widener.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Kelsey A. Brown, preceded her in death.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Damascus.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Dr. K. Edwin Brown of Virginia Beach and Dr. Joe B. and Teresa Brown of Charlotte, N.C.; one sister Bela W. Bishop of Glade Spring; one brother, Billy E. Widener of Glade Spring; three grandchildren, Christa Phipps and husband Matt, Hope Phelps and husband, Stuart and Timothy Brown, all of Charlotte, N.C.; three great-grandchildren, Abigayle Phipps, Maggie Phipps, and Kelsey Phelps, all of Charlotte, N.C.; one aunt, Hazel W. Clark of Damascus; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m., Thursday, April 1, 2004, at First Baptist Church in Damascus with the Rev. Alan McCullough, Dr. K. Edwin Brown, and Dr. Joe B. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations may be sent to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 993, Damascus, VA 24236.
The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, at Garrett Funeral Home.
