John died July 7, 1993 in Chickasha, Grady, OK, at 68 years of age. His body was interred July 9, 1993 in Chickasha, Grady, Oklahoma, Rose Hill Cem.

He married twice. He married Walsie Robbins in Oklahoma, August 28, 1943. Walsie was born August 10, 1925. Walsie died May 9, 1966 in Cherokee, Alfalfa, OK, at 40 years of age. Her body was interred May 12, 1966 in Cherokee, Alfalfa, OK, Cherokee Cem. He married Deloris Teshara in Oklahoma, 1977.

John Lee Thomas and Walsie Robbins had the following children:

1795 i. Johnny Lynn⁸ Thomas.

1796 ii. Wanda Lee Thomas (still alive).

1797 iii. Linda Diane Thomas (still alive).
