He married Cynthia Caroline Hawkins. Cynthia was born 1839. Cynthia died 1927 at 88 years of age.

John Madison Cornett and Cynthia Caroline Hawkins had the following children:

+ 9 i. William McKinley⁶ Cornett was born October 12, 1859.

+ 10 ii. Mary Josephine Cornett was born January 1866.
