19. William³ Carpenter (John², Jonathan¹)⁽³⁸⁾ was born 1775. William died 1852 at 77 years of age.

He married twice. He married Permelia Gillum. Permelia was born 1804. (Additional notes for Permelia Gillum(39)) Permelia died 1874 in Washington, VA, US, at 70 years of age. He married Betsey Dickinson 1804. (Additional notes for Betsey Dickinson(40)) Betsey died 1823.

William Carpenter and Betsey Dickinson had the following children:

+ 20 i. John Dickinson⁴ Carpenter was born 1805.

21 ii. Mary Ann Carpenter⁽⁴¹⁾ was born 1807. Mary died 1895 at 88 years of age. Her body was interred in Smith Cemetery, Washington, VA, US. She married Pleasant Smith 1823. Pleasant was born 1782. (Additional notes for Pleasant Smith(42)) Pleasant died 1856 at 74 years of age.

22 iii. Nancy Fulcher Carpenter⁽⁴³⁾ was born 1809. Nancy died 1900 at 91 years of age.

23 iv. Susannah Carpenter⁽⁴⁴⁾ was born 1811. Susannah died 1882 at 71 years of age.

24 v. Asa M Carpenter⁽⁴⁵⁾ was born 1813. Asa died about 1846.

25 vi. Elijah Carpenter⁽⁴⁶⁾ was born about 1816.

26 vii. William Thomas Carpenter⁽⁴⁷⁾ was born 1817. William died 1898 in Bartow, Polk, FL, US, at 81 years of age.

William Carpenter and Permelia Gillum had the following child:

+ 27 viii. James Carpenter was born June 2, 1825.
